Address Groups

Introduction

Group policies are achieved using Address Groups. Each group stores a list of addresses, usually local computers on the network.

Rules can be applied to groups of users without the need for their IP addresses to be in a contiguous range. Each group can contain up to 100 addresses.

User Interface

The address group list can be accessed by via the View, Address Groups menu in the manager application:

The Address Group List allows you to modify the address groups with the following options:

  • New - Adds a new address group to the list.
  • Edit - Displays the properties of an address group and allows you change its contents. The changes are reflected in all rules that use the group.
  • Remove - Deletes the group from the list. Note that if one or more rules are using the address group then their endpoints will be reset to 'Any'.

Address Group Properties

The Address Group Properties Window allows you to change the contents of a group. It can be accessed by selecting an address group in the list and clicking the Edit button:

The Address Group Properties Window allows you to set the name of the group and modify the addresses that are stored within it:

  • Name - Enter a name that is used to identify the group.
  • Add - Adds an address to the group.
  • Edit - Edits the properties of an existing address in the group.
  • Remove - Removes the selected address from the group. Note that this does not remove the address from the server, it only removes it from inclusion in the group. To fully remove an address you must remove it from the Address List Window.
